"Whatever is in that vault, they want it bad."
―Officer Carl Radcliffe

"Bank Job" is a Homicide street crime case in L.A. Noire.

Situation[]

After being called to the scene by a KGPL bulletin, LAPD Detectives Cole Phelps and Rusty Galloway meet Officer Carl Radcliffe, who informs them that a crew of at least half a dozen masked men are attempting to rob the Bank of America. He describes them as "cold-blooded professionals", noting that they managed to clear the bank and take out the guards in record time before splitting up to secure the front of the bank while breaking into the vaults below. Accompanied by Radcliffe and another officer, Phelps and Galloway attempt to stop the robbery.

Walkthrough[]

After talking to Radcliffe, two gunmen with submachine guns are seen right outside the bank, taking cover behind cars. Phelps must kill both of these men in order to initiate the police assault on the bank. Inside, there will be two more men armed with police revolvers and a third man with a submachine gun on the second-floor balcony that looks over the lobby. After they are dealt with, Phelps, Galloway, and Radcliffe reach the stairs.

Because the robbers have blocked the stairs with furniture, Phelps is forced to take the elevator alone while the others secure the lobby. When the elevator opens up, a man with a semi-automatic pistol will engage him. After he is dead, Phelps takes out a robber with a shotgun behind the security desk, leaving the three remaining thugs inside the vault. One has a shotgun, one has a submachine gun, and the third has a semi-automatic pistol. Once the first two are dead, Phelps will comment, "Just you and me. You can live to tell the tale." to the final robber, who refuses to surrender and is swiftly killed.

Trivia[]

  • Radcliffe claims that half a dozen masked men are robbing the bank, when in reality there are actually more men in the robbery crew.
  • The mission's title may be a reference to the 2008 British crime film The Bank Job. Similar to the plot of that movie, the case involves a gang of criminals attempting to break into the safe deposit boxes of a large bank. The difference is that unlike the film, the heist is loud and noisy as opposed to quiet and hidden.
