InsuranceLetter

The insurance letter is a piece of evidence in L.A. Noire. It is featured in "A Marriage Made in Heaven" case.

Events of L.A. Noire[]

Lester Pattison fought in World War II, hence applied for life insurance at California Fire and Life, with a standard payout of $10,000 in the event of his death. After returning home from the war, Lester's wife increased the coverage of Lester's insurance, due to his drinking and gambling habits. Curtis Benson approved and increased the coverage, and would provide $16,000 for Lester's death. Lester received a letter informing him of this increased premium.

After Lester's death during a hit-and-run accident, Detective Cole Phelps found the insurance letter in Lester's coat pocket and later went to inform Lorna of the incident. However Lorna's lack of grief, her relationship and business partnership with Leroy, raised Phelps' suspicions. The insurance letter along with the recovered knife ultimately proved that Lorna and Leroy planned and murdered Lester, motivated to cash in the life insurance to open a new bar.

Trivia[]

  • It is obviously clear that Lester was not happy when he found out about the raising of the premium on his life insurance, as he circled the $16,000 number in red, and wrote "WHAT THE FUCK!" in all capital letters, ending with an exclamation point.
  • Content of the letter:
