James Belasco is a character in L.A. Noire. He is a person of interest in the pre-order/DLC case, "A Slip of the Tongue".

He was involved in a large scale auto theft racket with a woman named Jean Archer, headed by Steven Bigelow and Gordon Leitvol. Belasco and Archer worked as transport "mules" for Bigelow who stored the stolen cars at his warehouse. Archer and Belasco would drive the cars out of state so they could be sold in other cities with Leitvol providing pink slips to make sales seem legitimate and to cover the intended fraud. While Belasco held up his end of the bargain, Jean Archer did not. Realizing she could sell one of the cars for more money, she sold the car to Richard Coombs at Coombs Automotive, who then sold the car to Cliff Harrison. The car came up stolen, and caught the attention of the LAPD's Traffic Department.
Events of L.A. Noire[]
While the auto theft racket was being investigated by Detectives Cole Phelps and Stefan Bekowsky, Belasco was arrested under suspicion of grand theft auto, despite having legitimate paper work. Detective Phelps deduced that Belasco and Archer were working for a car racketeering ring. During interrogation, Belasco quickly gave up information that would lead to the exposure of the entire operation, and was later sent to prison. It is possible Belasco got his incarceration year lowered as Phelps promised to speak with the DA on his behalf after a successful interrogation.
