"Two guys made off with about a grand in a paper sack. The vag says he saw them leave..."
―Officer Morris Callahan

"Paper Sack Holdup" is an Arson street crime case in L.A. Noire.

Situation[]

Phelps and his partner, Herschel Biggs, are called to the scene where a uniformed officer informs them that two armed men have made off with a thousand dollars in a paper sack and a witness tells them that the men ran off in the direction of the parking lot.

Dispatch Call Script[]

Dispatch: Any available unit, meet the officer, a 211 just occurred at 253 Main Street. Unit to handle Code Two identify.

Cole Phelps: This is 11K, we'll handle the call at Main Street.

Dispatch: 11K, your 211 is at the Bank of Arcadia, 253 Main Street.

Walkthrough[]

After the cutscene, the robbers flee by car. As you chase them, get close enough so Biggs can try to shoot out their tires. The bandits take many side streets and back alleyways, so don't be afraid to use the brake, as getting hung up on something just once will make you lose the case. At the end of the chase, the robber's car shoots off over a cliff and over a billboard, wrecking their car in the process. You have to go over this cliff after them, as trying to find an alternate route to the street below will take you too far from the criminals, and the "case failed" screen will show. Run up their car and this case is complete.

Additional information: With careful planning, it is possible to drive your way to the crash site without failing this Street Crime as mentioned above.  Here is what happens if you skip the jump: Approach the jump point and stop.  Back down the hill and go around. As you arrive at the closest intersection to your quarry (Flower and 4th), with your 1938 Voisin C30 in perfect condition, the wheels, doors and hood suddenly fly off and the engine quits.  If, however, you avoid the intersection by cutting across the sidewalk at the corner of Flower and 4th, you and the vehicle can arrive unscathed.

Trivia[]

The vagrant bears a strong resemblance to Arthur Moss, a hobo found in The White Shoe Slaying.
