Background
Mervin is employed at the Examiner Drugstore at 1486 Ivar Avenue. He is close to Roy Earle and other Vice detectives. He most probably has throat cancer due to his excessive smoking.[citation needed]

Mervin appears in the Vice case The Set Up. He is helpful to Phelps as he holds no information back. He tells them that Candy came to his store and made a phone to a cab.
