"Mommy always wore her Golden Butterfly."
―Michelle Moller

Michelle Elouise Moller is a character featured in L.A. Noire. She is a person of interest in The Golden Butterfly Homicide case.

Michelle is the daughter of Deidre and Hugo Moller, however, their married life wasn't perfect and on one occasion Hugo struck at Deidre. Although Hugo apologized by buying Deidre fancy jewelry, both Deidre and Michelle were afraid of Hugo's potentially violent nature. While attending a high school dance, at Belmont High School, Michelle rang home repeatedly until her father eventually picked her up after a long wait. Michelle and Hugo returned home only to find that Deidre wasn't there, prompting Hugo to go search for her.

Events of L.A. Noire

While at home alone, Michelle was visited by Detectives Cole Phelps and Rusty Galloway, who informed her of her mother's murder. Phelps questioned Michelle to get background information on Deidre, and the state of her marriage with Hugo. She revealed to the detectives that, after Hugo and Deidre had a domestic dispute, Hugo would make up for it by buying her expensive jewelry. As Hugo returned home, he was upset with the detectives for interviewing her when he was not around. Not long after, he was arrested for suspicion of murdering his wife. Michelle was sent to stay at juvenile hall throughout her father's incarceration. Eli Rooney was charged for Deidre's murder soon after, allowing Hugo and Michelle to reunite.

Case Appearances

  • If the player chooses to charge Hugo instead of Rooney, it will prevent the player from getting a five star rating. Captain Donnelly will berate Phelps for making Michelle an orphan. (Even if Rooney is charged, some later game dialogue will proceed as if Hugo was charged.)
  • Michelle seems to know how to play the violin or viola, for the instrument can be found lying next to her bed.
  • When Cole is interrogating Hugo Moller at his house, you can slightly hear Michelle crying in her room.
