Strange Doodle
"Some kind of fruit, a bell and 'win'. Strange doodle?"
―Cole Phelps

The Strange Doodle is a piece of evidence in L.A. Noire featured in the Vice case The Black Caesar.

Background[]

The strange doodle is an illustrated note belonging to Cornell Tyree and Tyrone Lamont, depicting a cherry, a bell and the word "win."

Merlon Ottie had a slot machine custom made by Ramez Removals to include a secret compartment. Merlon used this compartment to store stashes of drugs, money and number slips. The compartment opens once the slot reels align to this specific set of symbols. The note depicts the correct combination to trigger the hidden switch.

Events of L.A. Noire[]

While investigating the deaths of Tyree and Lamont, Detectives Cole Phelps and Roy Earle discovered that Merlon was part of a morphine distribution operation as well as an illegal gambling racket. Phelps examines the slot machine using the note found in Tyree and Lamont's apartment to choose the correct combination of symbols and discovers Merlon's stash.
